If you do decide to have sex (oral, vaginal, or anal), you have options to prevent pregnancy and protect yourself against STDs. It takes two to have sex, and birth control is the responsibility of both partners. Young men and women can use birth control. You can get birth control at the Coconino County Health Department (CCHD) Teen Clinic located at 2625 N. King St. in Flagstaff, AZ.

    How to Use a Condom:
  1. Talk with your partner. Make sure that both of you want to have sex.
  2. Check the expiration date on the condom package.
  3. Look for any tears, rips, and holes in the package. Also make sure that there is still an air bubble in the package.
  4. Carefully open the package with your fingers.
  5. DO NOT use your teeth, nails, scissors, knives, etc. because it may rip the condom.
  6. "Hats are happy, beanies are bad." The condom should be right side out so that you can see the pointed tip and the edge can easily roll down on the outside.
  7. Pinch the first 1" of the condom.
  8. Roll the condom down to the base of the penis.
  9. After sex, the male should hold on to the base of the condom and remove condom and penis from partner.
  10. Take condom off away from partner.
  11. Throw out condom.
  12. DO NOT flush down the toilet because it is bad for the environment and your plumbing.
  13. If you and your partner decide you want to have sex (anal, vaginal, or oral) again, use a new condom.
